How offline-first works
When you're offline, Balance stores new expenses on your device and keeps the app fully usable. As soon as a connection returns, the queue syncs in the background — no lost entries, no manual re-typing.

To be accurate: Balance keeps an encrypted cloud backup and syncs across your devices, so it uses a free account rather than being a purely local, offline-only app. The benefit is that you never lose data if you change phones — and you never need signal to capture in the first place.
