Built around how New Zealand pays

  • EFTPOS and contactless purchases, logged by scanning the receipt
  • Online and bank transfers logged from a screenshot or by hand
  • Power, broadband and insurance tracked as recurring bills
  • Cash spends added in two taps

Groceries, rent and power: watch the big three

For most Kiwi households, rent, groceries and power make up the bulk of spending, and groceries are the one you can actually move week to week. Set a category budget for them and Balance shows how you're tracking before the month runs out.

If you're paid fortnightly, budget on a monthly figure (fortnightly pay × 26 ÷ 12) so the months with three paydays become a bonus rather than a buffer.

Your currency, set up for you

Balance sets your home currency from your phone's region the first time you open it, so in New Zealand amounts appear in New Zealand dollars (NZD) with the right formatting. If you move or prefer another currency, you can switch to any of 140+ in settings.
