Built around how Australia pays

  • Tap-and-go card and phone payments, logged by scanning the receipt
  • PayID transfers logged from the confirmation screenshot or by hand
  • Buy-now-pay-later instalments tracked as recurring bills, so they show up before they're due
  • Rego, insurance and utilities added as fixed expenses

Make fortnightly pay and monthly bills line up

Most Australians are paid fortnightly but billed monthly or quarterly. Work out your monthly take-home (fortnightly pay × 26 ÷ 12) and budget against that, so quarterly energy bills and annual rego don't come as a surprise.

Balance lets you add those irregular costs as fixed expenses and shows what's safe to spend after they're accounted for.

Your currency, set up for you

Balance sets your home currency from your phone's region the first time you open it, so in Australia amounts appear in Australian dollars (AUD) with the right formatting. If you move or prefer another currency, you can switch to any of 140+ in settings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I track Afterpay or other BNPL payments?

Yes. Add each instalment plan as a recurring bill and Balance reminds you before each payment and counts it in your monthly spending. It doesn't connect to the BNPL provider itself.

Does Balance work with Australian banks?

It doesn't connect to any bank. You scan receipts or add spends yourself, which works with any bank and keeps your login details private.

Is Balance free?

Yes. Balance is free to download and use, with no ads. Everyday tracking — adding expenses, automatic capture, bills and subscriptions, accounts and CSV export — is free, and it isn't a trial that runs out.

Which platforms is Balance available on?

Balance is available on Android today. An iOS version is coming soon. It's a mobile app rather than a web dashboard.
